Courtney Pine Says He Worked With the Stones
Courtney Pine says he has been in the studio with the Rolling Stones. Far Out reports that the saxophonist told it he recently worked with Mick Jagger on new material for the band.
The claim comes only months after the Stones topped the charts with Foreign Tongues. It has not been confirmed by the band, so for now it is Pine's account and nothing more.
It still fits his path. Pine came up in the 1980s as a central figure in the new wave of British jazz. He has since moved between bass clarinet, soprano and tenor saxophone, and between jazz, reggae and electronics. A session with a rock band would be another crossing for him, and he has made many.
Pine is also on the live circuit with Out of the Ghetto: A Modern Day Jazz Story, listed by Band on the Wall. Check the venue page for dates.
We'll wait for word from the Stones' camp before we say more.
