Katie Tupper Takes Western Canadian Award
Katie Tupper claimed R&B artist of the year at the 2026 Western Canadian Music Awards, held during BreakOut West conference in Victoria between October 1 and 3. The recognition follows a breakout year for the Saskatoon native, whose debut album Greyhound arrived in January and has been supported by sold-out shows across the globe.
Tupper's deep alto navigates soul, indie, and alternative R&B with a prairie undercurrent that sets her apart. Greyhound was produced by her touring partners Justice Der and Felix Fox, both accomplished collaborators in their own right. The album has earned acclaim, and was longlisted for the 2026 Polaris Music Prize.
The award arrives mid-tour—Tupper plays Amsterdam's Melkweg on May 19, 2026, part of a European leg that includes London, Antwerp, and Paris.
