Sola Akingbola at London Jazz Festival

Sola Akingbola brings his Eegun Rhapsodies ensemble to Freight Brixton on November 18 as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. The project draws on the poetry of his Yoruba ancestry, combined with the influence of the Greek classics and the sounds of the UK.

Best known as the percussionist who shaped Jamiroquai's groove chemistry across their last five albums, Akingbola has quietly built a parallel career as a composer—writing scores for the Royal Shakespeare Company's Othello and US television. His most recent solo release, the single "Olukumi," arrived in May.
