Jamie Cullum Previews 2027 Album
Jamie Cullum performed around half the set from a forthcoming album slated for early 2027 during his recent residency at the newly opened Blue Note London. The shows, which ran through late September and early October, marked some of the first performances at the Covent Garden venue.
The new material features homages to the jazz tradition—Sinatra, Basie, Fats Waller—delivered with what UK Jazz News described as both authenticity and power. Cullum's band, featuring Loz Garratt on bass, Brad Webb on drums, and Tom Varrall on guitar, closed one set with a solo piano rendition of "Gran Torino" that stood in sharp contrast to the celebratory energy of the rest of the evening.
The residency continues through October 9, with shows at 7pm and 9:30pm. Cullum will also appear at the 606's 50th Anniversary Festival on October 13, followed by two Royal Albert Hall dates in December.
