John Carroll Kirby's Piano Works

John Carroll Kirby's Piano Works 2016-2026 gathers fourteen impromptu pieces composed whenever he found a piano while touring. Released August 28 via Stones Throw, the collection offers a quieter counterpoint to the work of a musician better known for his collaborations with Solange, Frank Ocean, and Harry Styles.

Kirby's profile as a session player and producer has grown steadily over the past decade, but these piano sketches reveal a more introspective practice—moments stolen between soundchecks and studio sessions. The release is available digitally and on vinyl, marking another chapter in his relationship with Stones Throw, a label that continues to give space to left-field jazz and instrumental music.
