Chaka Khan Returns with Chakzilla

Chaka Khan's thirteenth studio album Chakzilla arrived September 18, ending a seven-year gap since Hello Happiness. The single "Chakzilla" featuring Sia dropped in May, co-written and produced by nine-time Grammy winner Greg Kurstin.

The 10-track project reunites Khan with collaborators who understand her vocabulary. A second single, "Boogie's in My Soul," features Snoop Dogg, while Lenny Kravitz appears on "Bring the Party." Kurstin's production draws on disco's DNA, though some critics note the tension between Khan's originator status and contemporary gloss.

The release caps a landmark year: Khan received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2026, following her 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. At 73, she continues to define what endurance sounds like in soul music.

Chakzilla is available now via EarthSong Records/BMG.
