Greyboy Allstars Plan Thanksgiving Homecoming

The Greyboy Allstars will return to their San Diego hometown for a gig at The Observatory North Park on Friday, November 28, billed as A Thanksgiving Boogaloo. The show reunites the current quintet—Karl Denson, Robert Walter, Chris Stillwell, Elgin Park, and Aaron Redfield—with DJ Greyboy, who has worked with the group on occasion throughout the years as a producer, will also appear on the bill.

The ensemble originally formed in 1993 as DJ Greyboy's house band, channeling his acid jazz sensibility into live performance. That they've sustained three decades of work while most members have maintained robust solo careers speaks to the chemistry still evident in their two-set performances—tight pocket grooves stretched into bold improvisations without losing the boogaloo foundation.

Before the Thanksgiving date, their next stop is an August 27 appearance at Sacramento's Harlow's, followed by West Coast and Southeast runs through the fall.
