Camilla George at Edinburgh International Festival

Saxophonist and composer Camilla George has become a key player in the UK jazz renaissance, and her Edinburgh International Festival debut on 26 August marks a significant moment for the Nigerian-born artist.

Her most recent album Ibio-Ibio celebrates her roots, through the music of the Ibibio people of southern Nigeria. Known for fusing African and Western music styles in a hypnotising blend of Afrofuturism, hip hop and jazz, George is accompanied by her band for a night of deep groove and improvisation.

She grew up listening to her dad's Fela Kuti, Charlie Parker and Sidney Bechet records, and that lineage shows in her fearless blending of tradition and experiment. The performance takes place at The Hub on Wednesday 26 August.
