Butcher Brown Reimagine Modal Jazz Icons

Butcher Brown and GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Nicholas Payton have released A Supreme Blue, a reimagining of Miles Davis's Kind of Blue and John Coltrane's A Love Supreme created to honor the centennial year of both Davis and Coltrane.

The project emerged from an unplanned moment at a Butcher Brown show when Payton sat in and began quoting Coltrane's "Acknowledgement" over the band's House-inflected groove. The album pairs Payton's visionary trumpet work with Butcher Brown's fearless, groove-driven approach, recorded with the spontaneity of a live session and thriving on collective interplay and infectious rhythms.

The album was released digitally on July 24, 2026, with vinyl following on August 14.
