Glasper to Open Blue Note London
Blue Note Jazz Club will open its first UK location on September 23 in London's Covent Garden, and Robert Glasper will headline the grand opening on what would have been John Coltrane's 100th birthday.
Glasper has been named a creative ambassador for Blue Note London, helping shape the artistic direction of the new venue. He'll perform opening night shows on September 23-24 before returning for a seven-show November residency.
The appointment feels right. Glasper has said London supported his career "from the very beginning," and that Blue Note "has always been a home" for boundary-pushing music. The venue will function as a working jazz club with two sets nightly, food at the tables, and musicians playing within feet of the audience.
General sale tickets go on sale August 14.
