Gary Bartz Meets Your Brother's Keeper

Gary Bartz has released Where Rivers Meet, a collaborative album with UK ensemble Your Brother's Keeper. JazzTimes profiled the project on August 8, examining how the 85-year-old saxophonist's Black-consciousness idealism continues to evolve through new partnerships.

The pairing feels inevitable. Bartz has spent decades pursuing "a visionary sensibility of having all music flow into one grand circular sound," forged through work with Max Roach, Charles Mingus, and Miles Davis. Your Brother's Keeper, rooted in similar Afrocentric spiritual jazz traditions, provides fresh terrain for that vision.
