The Internet Confirms 2027 Album
During an interview on The New York Times' Popcast podcast, members Syd, Steve Lacy and Matt Martians confirmed they have been working on a follow-up to 2018's Hive Mind. The new Internet album is set to release in early 2027.
Matt Martians revealed the group has been "working on it, on and off, for four or five years", with sessions scattered across the pandemic and its aftermath. Lacy and Syd are producing beats for the record, while Martians is building tracks around heavy sampling.
The timing is deliberate. Three members — Syd, Steve Lacy and Chris Crispy — all dropped solo albums on the same day (July 17), clearing the decks for a proper group effort. With each member maintaining strong solo careers and touring, the project serves as a rendezvous point for the members' unpressured, unadulterated inspiration.
Expected early 2027.
