Niño Josele's Bajañí at San Sebastián
Fernando Trueba will present Bajañí at the San Sebastián Film Festival, a musical journey through flamenco, jazz and Brazilian music centered on Niño Josele's guitar, featuring dialogues with Caetano Veloso, Ron Carter, Rubén Blades, Kenny Barron and Marisa Monte.
The title refers to the Romani word for Spanish guitar. Shot across Spain, New York and Brazil, the film sits between documentary, concert and visual poetry—a logical extension of Trueba's longstanding fascination with cross-cultural improvisation.
Meanwhile, Josele revisits his 2006 Bill Evans tribute Paz in a July 18 concert in Alicante, reworking Evans's harmonic language through flamenco guitar with Dani Noel on bass and Daniel García Bruno on drums.
The San Sebastián festival runs September 19–27, 2026.
